I only just moved to the DFW area last October, so this will be my second Christmas in Texas. And let me tell you, last year was very much a Christ-meh in my empty apartment in a new town. This year, I'm definitely ready to get out there and be merry and bright! I'm sure y'all already know some great holiday activities for when the inevitable cabin fever creeps in this time of year, but just in case, I scrounged up some fun stuff that's sure to get you and yours in the holiday spirit!
First of all, I had no idea there could even be an outdoor ice skating rink... IN TEXAS? There sure is. It's called Panther Island Ice and they even have scheduled visits from Santa for those of you with little ones. Something else that sounds really cool to me is the Ice Sculpture exhibit that Gaylord Texan puts on each year. They also have snow tubing there! Sign me up! If you're a fan of holiday lights, Texas Motor Speedway has a massive drive through display that I've heard is so gorgeous! Or if you're a tropical person like me and want to get AWAY from the wintry wonder, you should check out the Dallas World Aquarium and Rainforest and take a miniature holiday to see the sharks, stingrays, flora, and fauna! And of course, it wouldn't be Christmas without your favorite classic holiday movies. The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is playing a lot of my favorites from Scrooged to Christmas Vacation this month. Because what's better than going to the movies? Going to the movies AND drinking wine!
Speaking of traditions, your favorite one is right around the corner. That's right, DH's 12 Days of Christmas Sale starts next Tuesday, Dec. 8th! So make sure you're keeping an eye on your email, because we will be sending out the details later this week! And feel free to comment with your own favorite Christmas activities in the DFW area. I'm always up for a recommendation for fun!
Happy shopping and happy holidays, y'all!
